Although they may have a high chance of success in democratic systems of governance, globalization provides good chances for success for social movements living under dictatorial systems of governance. These movements pressure the government for action (Gladwell, M. 2010). The success of previous social movements can be attributed to different patterns that they followed to achieve success. For instance the Women Rights Movement from 1848 to the present that fights for equal chances for women with men. This social movement challenged the unfair treatment of women in workplaces through low pay for equivalent work. It also challenged low engagement of women in executive jobs. By the year 2012, more women than men held college degrees with majority earning more than 75 percent of mens salary. A law was also enacted where no citizen would be denied rights on account of sex.Patterns that attribute to social movement are usually centered on three factors first is the political opportunity so they can push their agenda. Second, should have organizational capacity to organize a successful and effective protest. Third, the ability for a movement to formulate viable plans in order to validate their agenda (Goldberg, R. A. 2010).Some of the strategies used by the early social movements such as political opportunity have managed to build momentum to todays movements.
